MBA got to thrash a pair Cane Creek super-hoops. Version was the second-tier WAM version, with black-colored Ti spokes. They weigh in at 1882 grams per pair. They have 28 spokes each and are available in either regular or disc brake versions. The disc version was our test model.
These wheels are unique because they feature a straight-spoke design. This allows Cane Creek’s wheel builders to increase the spoke tension by up to two times. Cane Creek rims are specially designed to handle stress. The rear rim is also offset in order to ensure that all spokes have equal tension. These tiny stainless steel nuts can handle greater tension without having to strip threads or round the flats. Each set comes with a wrench.
It was pleasant to ride the Cane Creek WAM tires. They were fastvery fastand they held up well through two months of thrashingbetter then any other top hoops we’ve tested. The hubs’ inner workings will last. They are Shimano Deore XT products and the rest are adjustable sealed-cart bearings. The WAM wheels are also desirable for their stunning looks.
